Andy Burnham has a chance to fix our broken political system now, before it is too late. Introduce proportional representation, give everyone an equal vote and an equal voice in our democracy, and make sure no politician or political party can afford to take them for granted ever again.

I‘m not holding my breath. When the “fantastic Andy” period is over after a few weeks Burnham will go the same way as Starmer (no PR, attempted cherry-picking with the EU, higher taxes, more borrowing, no abolition of the Lords). He will have a better social media presence for what that is worth

Yous guys went in to government and allowed Cameron to introduce austerity, whilst dropping your own values. You should never be allowed anywhere near power.

Long overdue. Devolved governments have shown the way to prevent extremism getting control and the never ending demolition of one government's work by tne next, in a two party system inder the FPTP electoral system.

Following his undemocratic coronation, how about some thinking out of the box? Since none of the last 10 prime ministers have had green eyes, lets now make eye colour the criteria for choosing our next PM and First Lord of the Treasury. It cant be any dafter that what has preceded it.

Labour will never do that. They have always believed FPTP works because every once in a while it delivers them a majority. The collapse of the Tories will incline them to think that if they can just wait out the implosion of Reform, then they're a shoe-in for a long spell in power.

I support this. Take the simple example of 6 parties, one gets 34%, 4 get 20% and one gets 6% of the vote. Under FPTP the 34% party gets to govern us all. 66% of the votes are disregarded. It's tyranny of the biggest minority.
