The rise in employers’ National Insurance has hit businesses, jobs and investment hard. A thriving private sector is key to economic growth. We need meaningful business rates reform and further VAT cuts for hospitality to support our struggling high streets. @TomMorrisonMP.bsky.social

Ten years on, we have the worst of both worlds on immigration and asylum. Without freedom of movement, businesses face red tape while losing skilled workers. Restoring it cuts business costs, creates quality jobs for Young people, and helps us tackle the crisis together.

With the budget next week, the Chancellor needs to give British people the breathing space to tackle the cost of living. People across the UK are struggling with everyday expenses, and we need urgent action to cut energy bills, cut travel costs, and introduce a VAT cut to support hospitality.

The Liberal Democrats have outlined our plans on how to tackle the threats from Russia. We need to expand UK shipbuilding, with six new Royal Navy frigates and four new British shipyards to face down future threats.

Labour, the Conservatives and Reform decided to not back British Farming last night in Parliament. The Liberal Democrats will keep fighting for farmers and pushing for the support our rural communities deserve.

A positive step towards stronger, independent press regulation. ✊🗞️ Anna Sabine and Tulisa Contostavlos met with Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy to discuss the urgent need for genuinely independent press regulation and the action needed to address the issues that matter. This is just the beginning.

Tonight, Conservative MPs failed to back British farmers in Parliament. The Liberal Democrats will keep fighting for farmers and pushing for the support our rural communities deserve.

Rejoining the EU single market and customs union would boost growth, raise revenues and allow tax cuts for everyone. The PM admits Brexit has damaged our economy—so what is he waiting for?

Matilda Davies devoted her life to caring for her disabled child, yet received little support herself. Tragically, she died by suicide at just 36. No parent carer should be left to struggle alone. Will the PM act to ensure families get the support they deserve? @MP4Stratford.bsky.social

We should be broadening young people’s opportunities, not narrowing them at 14. No young person’s ambition should be limited by their background. We need a mix of academic and vocational learning, flexible work experience and mentoring to help every young person thrive. @MuniraWilson.bsky.social

The neglect of care homes during Covid was devastating. Warnings about testing and PPE were ignored, putting vulnerable residents and staff at risk. At the very least, an apology is owed to those impacted.

Veterans deserve stronger protections. Investigations should only be reopened with material new evidence and historic incidents shouldn't be judged by laws that didn't exist at the time. The Government must get this right.

Everyone should be able to enjoy life’s little pleasures, not just scrape by. Our Breathing Space Budget would save households £350 on average, cutting the cost of energy, travel and going out. It’s time to give families the breathing space they deserve.

Ed Davey told the Commons in July what Reform activists were saying on doorsteps. Tonight, we saw ITV went undercover and got Reform councillors and candidates on tape.

The fight for better press regulation continues. Anna Sabine has secured a meeting with Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy, alongside Tulisa Contostavlos, after raising the issue in Parliament. Lib Dems will keep pushing for Leveson’s recommendations to be implemented and a Part Two inquiry.

It's good to see the Prime Minister sharing our commitment to fixing social care once and for all. But he must not wait any longer to act. We urge him to get a date in for further cross-party talks immediately. This is the only way to fix social care for the long term. @EdDavey.LibDems.org.uk

I welcome the Prime Minister’s admission that the Brexit deal is a disaster for our economy, but the real test is: will he drop Labour's red lines that stop us fixing it? Today he says no – so we have more work to do!

We need to support our maternity services and prevent the systematic failures that have harmed this country from happening again. Listen to Helen Morgan and Ian Roome speak about the maternity crisis and the work they are doing to highlight the issue.

Three quarters of Brits are worried about maternity care standards. Every mother deserves safe care. That's why the Liberal Democrats are calling for urgent action to improve maternity services. Swipe to read our plan.

Tackling crime starts with safer communities. Taxing tech giants more could raise £1bn to fight online crime, freeing up police to patrol our streets. That's why the Lib Dems are calling for more youth services to prevent crime before it starts. @maxwilkinson.bsky.social

The polls have now closed in the Holborn & St Pancras by-election! A huge thank you to everyone who knocked on doors, delivered leaflets and supported Patrick Stillman throughout the campaign 🧡

One headline can turn a life upside down. Anna Sabine and Tulisa Contostavlos are calling for Leveson’s recommendations to be implemented in full and Part Two of the Inquiry to go ahead.

Badenoch has spent half her conference making unfunded promises, and half lecturing the country on fiscal responsibility. We’re all still paying the price for Conservative financial mismanagement. Liberal Democrats will act as the firewall stopping her handing No 10 to Farage.

All carers need a break sometimes – and far too many carers don’t get them. This week, my wife Emily and I are taking our first two nights away as just us for over 18 years. When we’re back, I’ll keep fighting to guarantee respite breaks for every carer.
