Fantastic initiative - this is what happens when a city is run by someone that loves it, wants it to thrive, and who cares about the people who live there. (I look at this with envy from Toronto where we are ripping out bike lanes to appease people who want to use our city as a highway…)

Pushing this through is impressive. a genuine legacy for all involved. will other major cities be as brave (see Edinburgh)....?

I'm not an expert on London. Seems Covent Garden had pedestrian only streets and it was very busy when I visited in January years ago.

Only its type of criminality has evolved over the decades. The crappy shops and tourists getting hit by buses has remained.
