Growing up in the 80s, I witness a distrust of German people. As I aged I started to wonder if this was a morally correct postion to take as these people had never voted for Hitler. The older generation had lost family and friends to the reicht and there was a trauma showing itself as a distrust of

Germans. During the last week I am better able to understand the perspective of the older generation. To their credit the Germans did work very hard on rehabilitating their image. I hope that in the future USians will be able to emulate them and that they will not become pariahs longer term.
