Also one time when a friend was working at a zoo, and I went to her office to pick her up to go to a concert or something, and one of her coworkers was walking around with a fully grown porcupine hanging off the back pocket of her jeans, and they agreed I could pet it if I wanted, but I was scared.

Porcupines really like salt, so I'd imagine it would want to lick my salty self the same way the deer in Nara did.

Porcupines are very directional to pet. The fear seems fair.

I've learned that the Vancouver B.C. Zoo also does this and I may need to make a trip to Canada
