London’s strategy appears to be to make driving absolutely miserable and expensive and to make public transit and bikeshare widely available and I am absolutely here for it.

Genuinel, yes - a while ago TFL started talking about planning for the end of private motorised transport in London, and most major infrastructure changes since then have been explicitly about undoing the bias towards car-drivers. It feels like traffic has been getting worse because it has

And some of the recent "crazy" changes (Elephant and Castle, Old Street, etc.) really seem bizarre if you assume the point was faster-flowing traffic, but pretty smart if you instead assume the point was safer pedestrian and cycle routes

Transit feels a bit pricey but I assume the price are programs to help folks who are lower income/younger etc like there are in San Francisco. I also think the bike infrastructure needs some work but it’s harder in older cities.

I don't know if it's a strategy, it's a symptom of being an incredibly populated capital in a tiny ancient country with roads designed for horses. But yes, here for it, in every city, and everywhere else.
