They’ve made the calculation that it’s better to try and spin this abject failure as a win than to go to the midterms with gas prices still sky high. Exposing their weakness and inviting international humiliation is a huge pill for them to swallow. They are running scared.

And yes the GOP would rather just go on decimating and remaking America in their image because without it they have nothing forever. They lost in Vietnam and how long did we remember what they did? Because people are scared of change they'll forget this too and just go on to vote for them anyway.
