I appear to have gotten this at least partially wrong. With that said the lack of any kind of announcement by SpaceX or triumphant tweeting by Musk makes me wonder if, having sent a message, they're now about to claim it was a technical glitch or all in the Ukrainians' heads.

The fear that a now-unreliable US partner could remotely disable technology saw significant rethinking of F-35 purchases. Starlink is a less expensive buy, but has fewer (virtually no) competitors - not sure what that adds up to for divestment.

Europe needs to build its own starlink regardless of cost. Ariane rockets should be launching our own satellites, not those of Bezos.

That's what Eutelsat's OneWeb was meant to be
