I wonder what Google's data shows in how people engage with them. When I see a PAA is AIO, I ignore it, but at that point I've already clicked to expand it...

I guess there are other metrics they can tell apart from the click, like how long you dwelled on it, if you closed that answer, if you quickly opened another, if you went to another result, redefined search etc.

I don't see why PAA is needed with AI Mode dive deepers, and fan outs UX becoming more regular

This feels like they are using PAA as an experimentation platform for the AI overviews to see which answers get the most clicks to expand It would be fascinating to get hold of their internal data
