More info from AccuRanker about Google poisoning the SERPs for scrapers and trackers. It's not good: "On the worst day 10/24 Google poisoned 40% of first desktop fetches. After our checks, 3.2% of the desktop keywords in our sample still had a swapped page 1." www.accuranker.com/blog/poisone...

On GEO and ChatGPT - I hate to say it, but a lot of my B2B clients get healthy and productive traffic from ChatGPT. It is not to be ignored, or treated as anything more than an opportunity like Linkedin.

Anything that draws on real life experiences ensures that AI can never compete. So safe bets there are themes like: 'best coffee machines for modern living rooms' e.t.c.

Sadly the ship has sailed on the catch-all high volume content marketing era, but a new era of staying true to your customer interests is just opening, I promise!

Google and others can now automate the writing of these high value commodity posts, especially when they are generalised ideas. So literally Google is capable of spitting out the 'best coffee machine' posts, merely based on online data synthesis.

The higher value blog posts for SMEs are now more a collection of niches (AKA non-commodity content) that would confuse AI when attempting to automate the workflow for these without actual legs, eyes and experiences!

Great breakdown from Marie. Like I said yesterday, with all of the doc updates, and Google presentations from the past year, I feel like we are going to see a very big update from Google. And check the "Deceptive authorship" info that Marie covers. BEWARE. www.mariehaynes.com/main-content/

I came to learn, the hard way, that mentions and links, they are not able to be produced without the necessaries there to do so organically, etal, content/offerings that customers desire.

Wil definitely mentions this, and the caution of working with low tier publishers and influencers. But how does that translate well to SMEs with budget constraints?

I was scaling, and things weren't perfectly rolled out. But in agency world, the rationale was locked. But the reality was a disconnect with strategy and client connection.

Agency thirst for factory line production destroyed the tactic, the client was never able to receive the work open heartedly. Ultimately, ways to mitigate failure in what felt like the right direction failed, mostly because of the thirst for agency commerce.

... It's 2018 again, and I'm stood with five travel influencers at the biggest London Travel show. All of them are there to do writeups on a big travel company, and yet in my SEO head I know they are merely operating link (now mention) farms.
