Honoured to listen to the Lewis Merthyr Band play so powerfully in Parliament last night, as we prepare to commemorate 60 years since Aberfan next week. The disaster took 114 lives and left its mark on far more, including my grandpa who - like many others - drove out to help.

Aberfan reminds me how charity has changed since The National Lottery and online appeals through vehicles such as JustGiving. We lived in Newtown, Mid-Wales. Our collection raised enough to buy a slide projector to equip the new school. Not much by today's standard, but par for then.
