The Netherlands banned investor ownership of housing in 2022. It did not reduce home prices. New homeowners had higher incomes, were more often Dutch-born, moved shorter distances, and stayed longer than the renters whom they replaces. I do not think this was an equitable outcome.

Am I wrong or is institutional ownership of housing like a fraction of a fraction of a percent of housing, and not really much of a problem?

It's FAR less than 1% of homes.

I wish for people to become more informed about this disinformation. Not good to see @warren.senate.gov feeding into it. @moreperfectunion.bsky.social is a good journalistic organization but they too put out BS about BlackRock. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BlackRo...

That's probably a fair assessment, I appreciate their localized pieces about datacenters, but the more I see of their lens on housing the more bad faith their efforts seem.
