Folks I hate to be a hater but this plot literally says “We are the best and the cheapest at the tasks we made up and the prices we set” This is a 100% meaningless chart.

Jev: Fable-level model that doesn’t charge for output tokens because they’re too cheap to meter it’s not general though, it only makes decisions, doesn’t generate text, but input tokens are measured by the billion ($42/btok) typesafe.ai/blog/introdu...

Well if it isn't entirely fake, this is the ultimate replacement for decision-trees that need to perform close to real-time. Do you have some experience in robotics?

I am familiar with these types of problems. I’m just saying: the evidence so far presented is a plot with the characteristics I described and a Doom video that performs worse than “AI” code John Carmack wrote in the early 90s.

People already have API access the model is definitely very real and it seems to be amazing for classification

I completely ignored that chart, since yeah, meaningless, but the doom demo is quite impressive

yeah, i mean take it with a grain of salt. most people here just care that it’s “good enough”, because the cost is so low. Plus the latency enables all sorts of new things. the hard part is getting people to understand what it is and why it’s significant

I imagine the latency will degrade for those outside the US, but well... the concept is out there now, we'll presumably see comparable systems elsewhere soon.

The interesting to me is thing to me is that it's shaped very differently from an LLM, like it's just a structuring machine. But then yeah, hard to compare head-to-head with other things.

my conclusion after playing with it is that i agree with you Maxine. it's fun marketing, has some cool webpages. it's a nice little model which i suspect is a finetune-ish variant of deepseek or qwen or something. the alternate interface of choices+bools and stuff is very fun to play with.

the playground page and api also seen to work and be somewhat polished which i appreciate. but this is not some huge groundbreaking thing, is basically a variant interface. which isn't to say they didn't invent stuff to make it nice, just that the hype is outrunning the reality at the moment.
