One insane aspect of blocking on here is if you reply to someone in the replies of a post, and your counterpoint (agreeing with OP) showed them up, they can block you and that keeps their reply up but hides yours. Yes they blocked me for this reasonably diplomatic post lol:

Trouble is “redesign every road” is not feasible on any conceivable budget in any reasonable timeframe. Yes we should do it but meantime we shouldn’t tolerate a culture of wanton dangerous law breaking. Drivers (with their cars’ fancy tech) can absolutely follow speed limits if we make them care

Unrelated to your point, but if someone is proposing "redesign every road" as a reason not to have speed cameras, I can guarantee you they wouldn't actually want to spend the money to redesign the roads. Their whole point is not to have speed cameras, and they're being willfully duplicitous.

Yeah, if I don't want to be pulled into a fight, I mostly ignore and/or mute as necessary. The nuclear block here is very effective in dealing with real problems, but it blocks out some reasoned arguments and results in stuff like this.

I feel like a more consistent approach would be to have the _OP_’s blocks determine who can show up in the comments. People in the comments blocking each other changing what you can see as a third party is just chaotic
