A decade ago, I basically dropped off the Internet other than what was needed for wedding planning. I went to bed very late in the night crying bc I'd lost two people I should have known but never had the chance to meet to known or presumed homophobic violence outside gay bars.

Spouse had been at Boston Pride that afternoon. I woke up to being told he should have been killed for going and I should have been killed for being too close to a pride parade. Because being asexual in and of itself was a threat of violence. One teen had said something clueless while we slept.

I still don't have the online support community I had when I was closeted in the mountains, and it was destroyed by a bunch of people with rainbow icons telling me I couldn't understand pain I was BORN INTO. Right around 10 years after my godbrother went missing after walking out of a gay bar.

Heck, after posting this I may have to step back again. So much of the immediate aftermath, I don't remember. I held myself together enough for wedding prep, cheered up enough I was happy on the day, but the trauma is still there.
