Another plane incident in DC: An American Airlines flight from Boston had to abort its landing at DCA airport this morning to avoid another plane that was taking off on the same runway, authorities said.

Apparently this was a second one. Looks like they were instructed to go around again so they didn’t get close. Doesn’t look like the near miss in Chicago where they actually landed then pulled up to avoid the small plane crossing the runway and then land again.

This was a go-around happens occasionally and a sign that ATC is working. In SFO last year happened 2x in same day to same plane. Other crashes were concerning this is just propaganda. Democrats shouldn’t be like Trump but should stick to real problems - there are enough of them!

Southwest Flight 2504 from Omaha to Midway International in Chicago, a Boeing 737 Max8 with wheels on the ground, had to abort its landing to avoid a Private plane taxiing across its runway. On video Both Southwest and American Airlines have called these "Routine Go Arounds"

The execution of the "go around" is routine. The need to do one is not routine. Overworked air traffic controllers are having trouble keeping track of everyone on the airports. Perhaps we should bring back those DEI hires to ease the work load.

A long time ago (when the earth was young) I was on flight into Dallas when that happened and the pilot had to make an evasive maneuver. The wing tip was far closer to a physical object than it had any right to be. I wouldn’t have been surprised if the pilots pants had skid marks.

Pilots' unions & flight attendants' unions need to strike. I'd love to see their union leaders make it broadly known that Musk has co-opted the FAA and the air traffic control system to enable Starlink to replace the air traffic control software system; the contract was announced. Privatizing it.

Sooner or later, they'll need to rehire a lot of the people they fired. How's that for efficiency and waste? Can't just replace them with your MAGA mates either... for many jobs experience and training is needed. So I guess it's more efficient to train hundreds of people who aren't gay or black?

It's not safe to fly and because of all the deaths and safety violations with Tesla's, that Musk eliminated through DOGE, it's not so safe to drive either.

Agreed. I took a course in flying planes and had to use a Boeing flight simulator which had me land in several different airports that were tough. At DCA after crashing through the Washington monument, I crashed on the runway. 😂

Having landed several hundred times in DCA in my 29 years of commercial flying, this is not an emergency. It happens at every busy airport from time to time. That's what all of our training is for. It was more common at LGA and the old Denver Stapleton airport.

No, it does not happen every day. This was a runway incursion at a large airport, not congestion. Most likely caused by overworked ATC. R'way incursions occur most commonly at smaller GA airports. I have had to "go around" twice because of them but they are not common at large commercial airports
