He can eat s*** - his tariffs are wiping out retail margins throughout the sector - unless prices are hiked, layoffs, store closures and bankruptcies will follow - they CANNOT EAT THE TARIFFS.

Trump said China was paying the tariffs, so why is Trump now telling Walmart to pay the tariffs? Like Trump said Mexico would pay for his wall. USA should have learned that Trump lies. It’s what he does.

Why does everyone forget that paying the tariffs means paying those sums to the US Government. So Walmart is being asked to pay these tariffs to the US Government and then absorb these and not charge customers. As is so correctly stated, these are Donald Trump tariffs.

Thing is I’m fairly certain that at least 1 major retailer planned to, and was, eating 10% tariffs. I can’t speak to the full reason, but they were, or are?, still dealing w/a “shareholder” suit instigated by Stephen Miller.

1. This is a de facto tax on a corporation. 2. US Publicly-traded Corporations have a fiduciary responsibility to deliver shareholder value. They can’t eat the tariffs. A Penn Economics grad knows this.

Does Trump not understand Walmart has a FIDUCIARY responsibility to their shareholders; not to the president of the United States. Walmart’s customers shop at their stores because of the low prices. Ten percent increase in prices, they’re still shopping at Walmart. Fuck Trump and his tariffs.

But there is a reason why people welcomed Walmart, and were happy that these stores and the people running them were gone. A lot of them behaved like tyrants and were major political players in small towns, often being also the mayor or holding another powerful office.

No US company faced with tariffs (import taxes) should either eat them nor hide them in price increases. They should include the tariff information as a separate line item on every invoice. Everyone should include copies of receipts/invoices with Fed Tax Filings as justification for not paying.

The company my husband works for had a net profit of around $260 mil last year. The tariffs alone were initially $550 mil this year. Yes, they're down from $145% now but are still significantly higher than last year. Prices are going up.
