I mean, ive been on and off the dude, but just cause some of his films are trash doesnt mean he is

Where do you stand on his 2021 film Old? I thought Old was brilliant, and it was one of my favourite films of that year. Looking back at Shyamalan’s following two films, Knock At The Cabin was solid but Trap was GREAT.

He's my favourite filmmaker. I love all of his movies (well, except LAST AIRBENDER) and hope he keeps making movies til the day he drops dead.

If post-Avatar M Night is clowning on ya then you know AI has failed.

M Night's rules. I like his recent work.

"Dumb human stuff" is a pretty good definition of art in my book.

Lmao yes! That whole part of the movie (as well as literally casting himself as a misunderstood writer destined to save humanity) was so insufferably shitty and deeply, DEEPLY human.

“Perhaps I was too harsh on you”

he has earnestly swung and missed A Lot but i'm always happy to see him making stuff

i think its the mark of a genuine artist that even when their art makes you go "dude what on earth are you even talking about" you are absolutely confident theyre trying to talk about SOMETHING

Exactly this. He has some great hits and even some of his misses are still interesting and fun to watch

I liked Knock At The Cabin recently. M does his best work on things that are premium Twilight Zone episodes.

That’s true. I don’t like even the majority of his work, but I do always feel his heart is in the center of it. I’ll always appreciate that in art I don’t enjoy

i'll say it a million times, but i'd rather watch something that's bad bc it commits to doing something than something that's mid bc it doesn't know what it wants to be

And that’s why I hate the lousy caricature that Doug Walker created, ever since the film "The Last Airbender."

Honestly even his Avatar movie, you can tell he clearly loved the source material otherwise why even include stuff like the Blue Spirit episode? It's not good but I can't bring myself to hate the movie

He's a savant.
