Periodic reminder: no matter how useful you think tests are, they are 16% more useful than that (a number I just made up). I wrote a feature, shipped it w/o tests, later added a bug but fixed the bug without adding a test. Adding a test later made clear a further improvement. Write more tests!

Tests serve so many purposes is wonder people don’t do them more (or avoid them at all) Feedback on design, verification of implementation, documentation of behaviour, uncovering edge cases, automatic regression testing - well written tests are priceless

Are you using something to track coverage over time? I’ve tried a couple of the popular ones and either they are flaky or simplecov is flaky to the point of making it not valuable. Or, perhaps I have a skill issue 🫠

Before Sidekiq, I worked at a startup whose app was constantly breaking. The main dev was constantly fire fighting bugs in production! Why? No test suite. He manually tested everything. I came on board and started writing tests every day. No app code, just tests. After a month, no more fires.
