Early voting turnout in Virginia is jaw dropping stuff among Latino voters. Across all other demographics, numbers are well ahead of 2022 at the same point but Hispanic/Latino turnout is 50% higher than it was in 2024-- a presidential election year!

My 2 cents: Like everyone else, inflation and post-Covid negativism, plus many identify with GOP businessman tropes and they thought Trump would only deport drug dealers/criminals

Yes, they did, and they know better now and that’s why their voting patterns are changing. Hispanics are actually quite a diverse group; many are culturally very conservative (especially men), and Karl Rove was absolutely right to court them. Many were potentially gettable for the GOP.

Allowing Miller to run his brutal deportation policy may prove to be one of the most consequential decisions by Trump/GOP. Incredibly stupid as well as illegal, vicious etc.

Like I said, many Hispanic men in particular really identify with the GOP. They’re culturally conservative, think of themselves as businessmen, and Cubans and Venezuelans in particular immigrated to get away from leftist governments, so tend to be RW.

There’s also historical racism in LatAm, especially against indigenous peoples. Many Hispanics came here to get away from drug/gang violence at home, and supported Trump deporting criminals. Hispanic men voted almost as heavily for Trump in 2024 as White men.
