it's kind of crazy to think about how modern public transports are moving to QR code validation for some kind of tickets, but like, with the user as the source and the terminal has a camera and you're supposed to shove the qr code there???

like, not only the qr codes themselves feel kind of an archaic solution, but also, WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE TERMINAL IS THE CONSUMER 💀

I know cameras are cheap nowadays, but this is such a janky solution in so many ways

if qr codes really are the way to go, wouldn't it make more sense for the terminal to be the producer and always have newly generated qr code on a display you can scan using your phone? just like we already do with payments

except this doesn't work with paper tickets, so I guess there's that and I hate everything about this so much

There's also the limitation that then every single station needs to have a good, active cell or wifi available for the phone to read the qr and communicate with the server handling ticketing

but what do you mean we went from magnetic strips or rfid/nfc tickets to this, it seriously feels so wrong

I mean, if i had to choose this over not being able to access tickets on my rooted phone I'll take it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Though to be honest paper tickets are also nice as a fallback

try drawing this one then, it would probably work without issues
