Every facet of generative AI has made my professional life worse, without question, but THIS specific aspect has been driving me NUTS. Clients, who have made me toil for weeks over indescribably small details, are now approving & producing in-house commercial artwork that looks like a fever dream.

100% same situation I cannot stress it clearly enough 😭 Ig is a mix of the power it gives them of not having to pay an artist, and that they cannot really grab the power from themselves while using ai, so they are content?

Yep. I also think they're experiencing some degree of pride/ownership which blinds them to any of the flaws... Ugh, I haaaaate it.

There’s a lot of truth in that! I cannot tell you how many times I’ve designed and illustrated every single aspect of a commercial illustration only to have the agency credit everyone in their office, but not me… 🥲

Absolutely!! It’s very tough and it hurts specially when a lot was put on your shoulders. Credit is the easiest part and yet… 🫩 I won’t ever understand how it is so difficult to give proper credit when credit is due! Even if it’s a group effort and everyone has put a lil bit here and there.

Exactly this, clients need to think they've had some input. So they'll nitpick over the silliest detail just so they can say they've collaborated. Making some piece of shit with AI fulfills their need to have contributed, although it's leagues worse than what they could have gotten from an artist.

Right!? Also, I just wanted to let you know that THIS MORNING my son showed me a Betty and the Yeti strip, because he thought seeing Yeti eat out of a bin would make me laugh - and he was right!
