HOLY CRAP! "DUCKS" hit ONE MILLION views on YouTube today!? 🤯 Thank you to everyone who shared it, commented, told me they loved it/hated it/hate me for making it. It's really mind-blowing that someone I made sat at a desk can be seen by so many eyeballs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8vZ...

Of course it did well! Artists like you, Momo and Joshua Wright are what make this shitty, shitty world so, SO much better :)

Amazing, particularly love that it’s done that without being immediately in your face, got to stick with it to get it

Thank you! Yeah, I did worry that it would crumble under modern pressures to cut right to the chase but thankfully a lot of people watch the whole thing!

If anyone’s interested, a few months after I posted DUCKS I gained enough views/followers to qualify for monetisation on my account. This is how 2 million views stacks up in £££

The film is 4:45, so isn’t long enough for mid-roll ads (and they would be very disruptive on a short tbh), so this isn’t indicative of other, longer YT videos.

It’s wonderful to have this money come in BUT given how long animation takes, posting on YouTube could never replace my day job. There’s a reason that Glitch, even with their view counts & subscribers also sell physical merch…

This has a cute art style that pacifies the storyline which absolutely terrifies me I love all of the work and detail that went into it... I have no idea how to feel about you as a person, but I respect and salute you as an artist

I think that this is an important detail of the work. It's all very cartoony and silly, but if you told someone the plot, it would be a very dark and disturbing day at the park.

Hey! So I submit my films to festivals, most of which have judges/juries and awards (but not all), usually via platforms like FilmFreeway but some have their own submission process.

Some festivals require World or National premiere status & I personally avoid these as I know my films aren't the right fit for that mindset. And some other festivals do ask that films are not available online but you have to check their rules, case by case.

Personally, I hate the idea that film can't be online and I now only submit to festivals that I like (b/c I've attended and/or the ppl working there were lovely to deal with) & as a mark of respect I keep my films offline until they've happened.

You very much deserve this. I can't imagine anyone hating you, but I suppose we live in 'interesting times'. I've been working on a few weird little shorts here and there and I've been wondering about how you go about releasing them and if there was any chance of making a small amount of dosh.

I'm retired and I'm not doing this for money at all. But having some income never goes amiss. Especially if they are making money from your work you might as well share in it.
