alright at long last I beat this fucking game. previous thread here. it mystifies me so much. like I said previously, I both love it but also really, really got mad at it and hate that this is Good Games now but also, the way I just played it was really funny, all told bsky.app/profile/more...

so per the last thread, I read a confusing guide and ended up locked out of the "good ending" (and some pretty important loot, lol). the game doesn't support multiple saves on a run, so the only way was to start again. I'd already put in 25 hours into the game at this point

so in August I bit the bullet and just said "fuck it, I know the game pretty well, let's just cruise through." I also set the game to English (I try to play games in Spanish for practice; but especially stylized lore-heavy games, I tend to miss a lot) and this time, I loved it!

so: all you have to do to love Nine Sols is already have played through it for 25 horrible, frustrating hours. if you've already played through the whole thing, you're going to have a great time all my old points still apply though. I wouldn't call this a Metroidvania any more than Portal is an FPS
