So I have not looked at computers in a while but I just checked because I realized my system is almost 4 years old... and it doesn't feel like a great sign that the gaming systems that are not even as good as the one I got in Feb 2023 are the same price as I paid then???

And to be fair, my habit was to haunt NewEgg and buy the weirdly spec'd out computers that no one else wanted when they were heavily discounted, because as long as it could play Bioware games & run other basic programs, I didn't care. But jeez.

They really are. I need more ram after I had a stick fail - 8gb sucks bad. and getting to 16 paired again is expensive anything higher is worse. Ugh.

Yeah, it is grim. I was just looking for a thumb drive to expand storage on my laptop and prices have DOUBLED.

I bought a 4TB external drive in October last year. It was $140 then. It's like $270 now. Because AI and data centers.

Yeah it’s pretty bleak out there. I regret not getting extra RAM when it was more reasonably priced.

I had a stick fail, bringing me down to 8gb, and…yeah.

The machine I'm using is 8 years old. (I don't want to upgrade past Win10, because I don't want all the bloatware and AI slop.) The other computers I have are *older*.
