Listen Kaine, Hassan, King, Cortez-Masto, Durbin, Shaheen, Rosen, and Fetterman. You're NOT gonna take away my 2025 election joy. We voted in that election for folks to FIGHT for us. That doesn't include YOU. YOU are what we voted AGAINST last Tuesday. So I'm gonna hang on to that.

Perhaps if Congress gets backup and working they will vote to release the files and photos of Trump doing horrendous, illegal crimes against minor girls. Which will lead to his impeachment and removal from the White House! This is my good thought for the day.

Have hope but not anytime soon. I do think over time records will come out. But I think DT is protecting a bunch of old men like himself. His power is needed by these very rich old guys. Protect them and prevent Epstein records and list from coming out. DT like this kind of attention to.

The disconnect btwn the backseat drivers who aren’t in Congress & logistical reality is ridiculous. Trump & Repubs don’t care about ppl suffering. It isn’t leverage. It’s long past time ppl of privilege who won’t be hurt to stop being “brave” on behalf of those who will suffer the consequences.

Has everyone considered what gets passed if the Republicans nuke the filibuster? Planned Parenthood declared a terrorist organization; Israeli settlers kicking US citizens out of their homes; every bridge, freeway and airport named after Trump?

If you're not part of the solution, you are part of the problem. In future history classes, it will be asked how did the other party not stop the dictator. History will show some Democrats gave in to the pressures from trump and sold out their constituents.

Please. Let's not pretend that it wasn't a decision by the caucus to cave, engineered by Schumer. These 8 people (only the number needed) were hand selected to sell out. Durbin isn't running again. Fetterman is unelectable. Others aren't facing re-election until 2028 or 2030. They all own it.

"Nobody could change their minds." Nonsense. It's all theater. They want you to believe any more than a small handful was against this. I watched an interview with Ezra,Levin (Indivisible) where he discussed this very thing as being "orchestrated." Because OBVIOUSLY it was.

These Senators play the role of the Controlled Opposition, which is compliant to the party in charge, not to their constituents. They get bribed to do this. They are agents of division and discord. This is an age-old method used by Dark Entities. It still works.

You don't abandon the party. By way of your vote, you force the party to change. If the old guard won't relinquish the reigns, you primary them if & when they run for reelection

Maybe its not what it looks like. Maybe a standoff that was going nowhere and causing millions of people irreparable damage needed to end. Maybe those 8 senators fell on their swords to avoid that. Maybe there are secret negations with Republicans to protect the ACA. Maybe…maybe…

2 of the Senators are retiring and the other 6 aren't up for re-election until 2028 or 2030. I am sure they think that will be long enough for voters to forget their shutdown vote. I am sure this was strategic on the Dems part to find 8 Senators who were the least vulnerable.

You would think the “ hateful 8” would have noticed the election mid term results , those results SENT A MESSAGE which they ignored , WTF ??? Are they that stupid OR they are getting something in return for betrayal

Leaving public service, retiring period, term not up till 2028 or beyond. My bet is they sold out to DT for something I'd be. It'll come out give it a little time we'll know.

I’m not sure why you’re not including Schumer in this post. He engineered this vote to give cover to himself and others by asking those who are retiring or not up for re-election in 2026 to provide the exact number of votes needed to get to 60.

He did, but...now SNAP money can flow and air traffic controllers can get paid and JOHNSON HAS TO REOPEN CONGRESS and so here come the Epstein files. Sorry, but we will never, ever, ever make progress with GOP's in the next few years if we think we can appeal to their principles.

They were never going to give us ACA in this round. We have two months now to put the screws to them if they try to mess with it. Meanwhile, their constituents are going to be getting very bad news about healthcare. And look, we have the numbers to pass the Epstein resolution now.

Terrible as he’s been, he wasn’t part of this: “Senator Chuck Schumer of New York, the minority leader, opposed the deal made by some of his own members because, he said on Monday, ‘it fails to do anything of substance to fix America’s health care crisis.’” NYT

He needs to go! We need democratic leaders who actually lead, not play games with Americans. There are too many in congress who need to move on and let real leaders and fighters take the lead.

Don’t kid yourself. This is EXACTLY what he orchestrated. He counted the votes they needed and passed out the bad taste to the Senators with the longest wait time to reelection or are retiring.

I am furious that both Senators from Nevada caved.. I campaigned and attended rallies both of them. They let us all down . The Republicans will make them look like fools, when they vote down ACA, fire government workers, and defund SNAP anyway..😡

We need to vent, but also to realize that the shutdown had to end sometime. If Trump and the GOP wouldn't relent, Democrats couldn't win. Now the issue of ACA prices is front and center, with GOP on the hook for the rise. We can run on that. Don't primary these people. Unite against the real enemy.

OK, with limited resources, these are the fights you'd choose? If we'd rather "teach people a lesson" than win general elections, who do you think will (continue to) be in power? There is no matter of clear principle here, just folks trying to choose, not the best, but the least bad option.

Schumer, though he voted no failed do anything to keep this from happening. He offered the Republicans a deal almost as bad, which signaled the surrender caucus that it was time to surrender. Dick Durbin, the whip, vote for the CR. Time to change Senate minority leadership.

What's the point in calling them? They've already done the deed. It's time to call in ALL other senators and tell them they need to vote for a new Minority Leader. Schumer has got to go!

The Democratic Party is a broad coalition not a narrow special interest, nor a mob following a "Dear Leader". Unity is not our strength. Diversity is. The shutdown achieved significant electoral gains last week, but was causing significant hardships for people. I respect our Senators who said yes.

Those cowards and disgraced to their voter and country will be voted out of office. People will not forget or forgive. They gave a one finger salute to about 40 million people, directly and millions more indirectly. They are incredibly stupid and so much more that is not positive. Fetterman sucks.!

Hey Kaine, Hassan, King, Cortez-Masto, Durbin, Shaheen, Rosen, & Fetterman! How dumb do you feel now that Mike Johnson announced no guaranteed vote on ACA? How about knowing how many millions of us are beyond mad 😡 at your caving to the Republicans? That bother any of you? It should.

And now there’s a new twist. (You all thought these republicans played fair!!) Stricter abortion laws if you want to extend the ACA. When will you learn that compromising with a bully only makes the bully want more of your lunch money.

I've been a lifelong democrat since before I was able to vote But these last 10 years has me ready to switch to independent. Unless we get more democrats like the new mayor of NYC, I'll still be voting, if we ever have another fair election like maybe 20 years ago, then the dems can count me out.

The RepubliKKKans had no problem shutting down the Gov. They just didn’t care how long as long as they were getting paid. The 8 senators knew that. I’m ok with their vote cuz 2 months without a paycheck for millions of people is way too long.

I will never forget these names. I will always put some energy into working against whatever thier interests are. They’ve really screwed us by voting for the CR. They’re codifying the hateful glutting of the American government under President musk. Hateful bastards.

Appreciate this, but I’m looking for the House of Representatives now not the Senate. It’s gotta go to the house now and they need Democratic votes that they will flip or try to. It’s time we start calling.

Yeah I don’t know what all this bs is about. It’s performative. Now it puts ALL the pressure on Mikey. People need to think strategically here. Right? He won’t be back until after Christmas. Meanwhile the Dems looked like they “tried”.

And this shit is JUST EXACTLY LIKE Trump telling the Republicans not to pass the bipartisan immigration bill when Biden was president because he wanted to run on the immigration "problem". Right now I'm really thinking the only way out of this is a totally new party, fuck these democrats.

And we are gonna remember. We are gonna remember because this is the Israeli of the Democratic Party. They all need to go every last one of them. And the only reason they did this has to be that Israel was not getting money it needed.

My thoughts are that some democrats in the Senate figure to just bend a little?? Just for the point of getting governor back open for many sakes even if some parts where not perfect or great and others feel a let down to the Trump administration??. Overall we can do something about that in 2026 etc

If the insurance subsidies, aren't changed. Come January many families will have no insurance. I swear DT regime is trying bury citizens. Debt, no insurance, inflation. I think he wants to harm us on purpose. I don't think he gets our will to not allow him and his Rep's to destroy us.

Fetterman and Cortz-Masto didn't surprise me; the other 6 shocked me down to my socks. Their caving but getting nothing in return except Thune saying he'd bring the discussion to the floor, shows just how far removed they are from the will of most of the country. "..., Divided we fall."

I would get them caving, if last Tuesday went sideways for Democrats. It didn't though. It went great! The message the voters sent on Tuesday clearly wasn't heard by the Senate Democrats. Senate Democrats should be terrified to help the GOP in anyway.

Kaine was on MSNBC n spoke only of Virginia n how he Knew what they wanted. Constituents arent happy and will let U no. It's all about the Entire Country affected by this vote! U should have listened 2 the massive amount of people, felt the pulse Anericans everywhere, because we were vocal!!

Virginia didn’t want this. Didn’t he see the turnout for the governor election in Virginia? Would love to know how Spanberger feels about Kaine right now. It’s easier and cheaper to feed people than get them affordable healthcare. Kaine dumped a load of shit in Spanberger’s lap.

I was looking at Kaines whole interview. I know people with anguish like me are freaking out. Yes, ACA is Very Important. Tues vote Should have Mattered. All of the Marches all over this country should Matter. Schumer needs 2 go. All the talent in the young Dems that are Dynamic, is being wasted!👊

They were all on MSNBC talking bullsh!t!! When I see old ass people like these ( and not to mention Fetterman) I can’t discern if I’m listening to orange Azz supporters , MAGAts , Republikkans : they’re Democrats in name only. They prioritized their self-interests over their constituents’ interests.

If they dont understand Unity, its already lost. I look at it this way, Republicans stick 2gether even in they're Wrong! Dems can't walk down the same side of the street 2gether. The Young Talent are impressive bordering on Dynamic. The old heads need 2 go home or step back!!😅💙👏

It's apparent to me that the Senate leadership hasn't got a plan & if Schumer thinks the people won't remember this stupid capitulation, he's wrong. The Republicans have no plan for affordable health care. So, a "possible promise" by a party that lies literally all the time is a good idea?

As much as it pisses me off, maybe they were right. The Republicans don’t care if they hurt the American people, they want-to traumatize us. They wanted the shutdown, they were never going to give in because they don’t care. The Dems achieved their goal, they made them own it

These people don’t realize that our minds are like steel traps when it comes to these betrayals. Ask me if I’ve paid money to see Susan Sarandon in a movie over the last decade. We won’t forget, motherfu**ers.

I hear you but they have proven, to a lot of ppl, that the doubts they had about the Democratic Party were well founded. That is enough to damper a movement and to ruin future elections, especially for candidates that aren’t very inspiring. I’m very sad for what this has done to the momentum we buit

Hold on, we won’t let them! They have NOT destroyed the momentum!! We’ve elected a socialist Muslim as NYC mayor, 11 million Californians showed up to save the House (and kicked some major GOP ass), we got 2 more democratic governors, plus PA, GA, MS results were amazing!! The people ARE AWAKE.

One of the main reasons there was level of turnout is because ppl felt that democrats were finally fighting back. They thought they finally got the message. For many ppl, last night proved that they in fact did not, that they asked us to march and to vote and then betrayed us and used us.

Especially with the reports that they had planned this for awhile and waited until after the election to do this, and that there are a number of dems who planned to capitulate so they just selected the 8 that weren’t seeking reelection/had no upcoming election under cave-happy Schumer.

Btw I just saw these PROP 50 final results. We heard the battle call, and look how much Republican ass we kicked here in California. We’re PUMPED. I’m pretty damn sure New Yorkers can say the same thing, and all the people across the country. These are Historic data points.

I am a progressive, and have always voted Dem. With that said, yes a lot of ppl are tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. Like I am here in Nevada. It’s disgusting to have dem senators that vote for things like the Laken Riley Act, and caves to the fascists on this bill.

Our “left wing” is not actually left at all when compared to other countries. We want a true left wing, not the right center we have masquerading as left. Our tax dollars should actually benefit us. The US can do better, Americans deserve better.

YES!!! 🙌 This is the attitude. The momentum is growing. The backlash is building. This is what movements are made of! There will always be dissenters and disappointments. We’ve achieved SO much in just a few months. Let’s stay in the fight and keep the momentum going!

By caving in to the right all nine of you should be primaried. And Kings lame excuse that the Republicans weren’t going to budge is a joke! The pressure was becoming painful for the Republicans, and could have deadly once Healthcare bills went out for all of them! Big opportunity for us was missed.

Durbin is now a total DICK in my book (IL voter here)!! Not running for re-election, he could go BALLS OUT all over these rethuglicans! But, nooooo... what a pussy.

While I don't disagree that their voting that way was trying to upstage Judas in the selling out department I'm not too concerned. The CR lasts until the end of January, SNAP will be back through the holidays (hopefully), and when it ends people will be seeing their 2nd batch of high insurance bills

You understand the Dems realistically got ALL they could for now: bsky.app/profile/walt... Doing what YOU wanted even if they got the ACA subsidies would have been costly as many in the general public would have turned on the Dems for holding out too long and their losing SNAP for one.

A thread noting Dems got all they realistically could for now on the shutdown: threadreaderapp.com/thread/19882... If they had gone further like many loudmouth Dems wanted on the ACA, even if they eventually did get all of the concessions on THAT, they would have lost the war.

I know no such thing, especially if the public comes together for the communities in need. We shouldn’t get crumbs because the greed and egotism of a few and I mean a few. They should’ve held out because the his own base was turning on him and his administration

The Nazis in the Democratic Party are now willing to come out of the closet. Soon they’ll be in their Kevlar vests wearing balaclavas, sunglasses and carrying automatic weapons at a park near you.

100%. We are not letting the others who hide behind the cowards, with nothing to lose, fool anyone. We're not forgetting. We'll continue voting for progressives who fight. And we are supporting all qualified YOUNG candidates that have the backbone to take these cowards on.

Spanberger was WAY better than the alternative for Governor, but she's just like Kaine. Based on the timing, I am sure that she will be crowned his successor in that Senate seat. That is assuming that the party still exists in 2030. We need new, young leadership.

assu.ingassu.ing

You're assuming Johnson doesn't just gavel the House out of session the second the budget bill passes and keeps it closed until after the Epstein vote window is closed...and he very specifically said he did not promise a vote on a clean ACA extension. In fact, he said he won't.
