I'm fixing up an old mountain bike that's been in the shed for 15 years. Some parts need replacing, but all in all pretty straightforward. I wish software worked like that. If I try to fix a 15yo website, I'd spend days fighting deprecated dependencies.

I am with you, but once the derailleur hanger (dependancy) is bent, good luck finding the one for that particular model today. But yeah, the closest thing that gets us there is index.php, scripts.js and styles.css - I have couple of projects from before 2010 still running just fine.

And with the latest 26'' to 29'' to 27.5'' wheel size?! :D Good luck finding a spoke If you want to upgrade, you need to change the frame... It's kinda big work as well It's ok to ride with a deprecated 26''

I think its a 2004 Shimano Altus, luckily not that bent. Yeah anything without a build step works fine. But if you're trying to get a 2010 Grunt.js config to work - oooph

Bicycles are seriously one of humanity's coolest inventions. Such a sweet spot in engineering. They're an inspiration, really. I often ask myself if something I'm designing embodies the same kind of simplicity and outsized returns a bicycle offers

This is from the packaging of a seat post. Not everything is great in the bike world either 😅 Currently building up a bike from a frame and the lack of standards are infuriating.
