Today's Wikipedia victory: Someone had moved the page for Next Men creator John Byrne from "John Byrne (comics)" to "John Byrne (illustrator)", because "(comics)" doesn't match current disambiguation guidelines. But even if "illustrator" were a non-controversial term, it's a poor choice for Byrne..

Some of us object to "illustrator" for comics artists because illustrators generally augment the text; in comics, the pictures are the text. But Byrne wrote a large portion of the comics he drew, and even some he didn't. So I raised an objection, a conversation was had and now...

Comics is for the comic books themselves. We could say "John Byrne (comics creator)", but not just "(comics)". (This is only needed because there is more than one John Byrne with a Wikipedia article... and one of the others was an illustrator, as it happens.)
