Noem said the systems are ancient and the administration is working to upgrade them. Is upgrading the systems identified as a priority and funded accordingly in the recent budget bill or is her statement complete bs?

I don’t know in which region you reside - let’s split all differences & posit Great Plains: Nebraska, specifically. 6 months ago, yr region had 24/7/365 NWS monitoring & forecasting; experienced pros working for you. Legions of storm chasers… 🛰️ images pulled by a few clicks. What has changed? 🧐

And yet the facility coordinator types will come in riding white steed horses to save the day We had the same issue, a Governor named Bill janklow cut funding & equipment for winter time use In 1996-97 our longest & brutalist winter came in & buried state . The state had to call in federal govt

The leadership in Texas that the electorate has chosen and is willing to tolerate is an unnatural disaster. So it only makes sense that they would be completely incompetent at handling natural disasters and evolving beyond the consistent mass shootings and "wild west" crime there.>

> and to blame anything other than the state government itself, in my opinion, is just wrong. Texas isn't one of those "We're too broke to do anything without government assistance, like LA. TX has plenty of their own resources and money. The West coast has tsunami warning systems.>

> Why can't TX have flash flood warning systems that don't rely on a text message or phone call in the middle of the night while people are sleeping. Wake people with air raid sirens in flood zones. Building codes could require flood warning alarms in homes>

> that monitor an emergency alert radio broadcasts like NWR and EWS systems have for tornados. Greg Abbott and Co. has failed that state far too many times to bother keeping him/them employed.

Devastating floods in Central Texas claim 32 lives, including 14 children. 27 girls missing after Camp Mystic tragedy. Rescue efforts ongoing as Guadalupe River wreaks havoc. Read More: internationalnewss.exblog.jp/33710745/ #TexasFlood #DisasterAlert #PrayForTexas #FloodRelief #MissingChildren

The only reason the GOP in Texas would even care about having people in those public service positions is because they need someone to throw under the bus. Now, after a disaster, there is no one to fingerpoint at but each other. Just watch... in the next few days, they'll find someone to blame.... 🙄

But that science is under attack, seeing deep cuts from the Trump administration, which fired hundreds of employees at NOAA, FEMA and the National Institute of Standards and Technology — key government agencies that advance climate science. www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/07/...

A Society can be pro-active or reactive. Pro-active requires planning, preparation and thought before hand. This requires more money up front though when an "event" occurs the consequences are less severe. Reactive costs less up front but when an "event" occurs it is multiple levels of disaster.

This is a result of trashing the national weather service and NOA we can thank our president for this. He doesn’t give a shit about anyone. He just doesn’t want anyone to know that we have global warming, which is why he got rid of the weather services cause he doesn’t want to confront reality.

The "leadership" PR personnel who was a judge wouldn't take responsibility. FAFO. They also blame the service officials because that's what they like to do. Play the blame game. And its all their fault for cutting the national weather systems.

I keep coming back to is the fact that the crucial services that stand between average US citizens and death, illness, and extreme need were just stripped from us/ those that need it most. Wouldn’t the ultimate boycott be to withhold those tax dollars that are no longer being used to serve us?

The science community warned months ago this would happen. But this is Texas, the land of stubborn bullheadedness. Even if there was ample warning, many would have ignored it. People here don't like the government telling them what to do.

you’re correct, warnings were & would have been ignored, it’s beyond common, constant turn around don’t drown, banks of this river are nothing but private owners collecting $50 in cash to set up a tent or RV on the property, even looking at that kids camp built on the banks in a known flood plain
