I have a really spicy rant I've been kicking around in my head for the better part of 2 years. I've wanted to talk about it, but it's highly speculative and might turn some of the more unhealthy hardcore Nintendo fans against me. I'm considering testing the waters on Bluesky. 😛 Do I dare?

Long story short, I think Nintendo did an arguably bad thing that fell under the radar, and they haven't really been called out much for it. I'm really not one for drama/tabloid-type content, but I do feel some responsibility to hold them accountable with my platform.

If you've got a spicy take that's bothering you then it's definitely worth mentioning because it helps to define who you are and people who disagree with you to the point where they stop following/watching your vids/etc., you probably didn't want them hanging around anyways. :P

A couple times I've had comments on my videos that I should be doing my best to appease people who are displeased with how I do things and my response has always been, "Why would I tailor my content to keep people around who not only don't agree with me but are OK with insulting me over what I do?"

This concerns Charles Martinet's stepping down from the voice roles of Mario, Luigi, Wario, and co. This is NOT about Kevin Afghani, the current voice of Mario, whom I have nothing but love and respect for. I'm worried that some people might overreact and try to give him a hard time by association.

I have become convinced that Charles Martinet was let go from his voice roles (and assigned an ill-defined honorary role of "Mario Ambassador", an intentional PR decision) by Nintendo, likely as a result of some completely benign Twitter posts that Nintendo leadership may have been disgruntled by.

I mean, this wouldn't even remotely surprise me so I don't think it's nearly as spicy a take as you might think it is. :P Then again, I was completely OK with Jaleel White as the voice of Sonic way back when so maybe I'm the wrong person to give an opinion on that. ;D

In the days following the announcement of Chris Pratt's casting as Mario in the SMB movie, fellow VA Tara Strong (a personal friend of Charles) reached out to her Twitter followers to ask for his fans to share stories and pics of meeting him to lift his spirits. The news apparently hit him hard.

People will probably overreact, but that's engagement. YT loves that. Also, people have short memories so it won't hurt you in the long run.

Ok thanks for letting me know, I'll just not include evidence next time 🥴 /s If you're actually bothered by a URL, idk what to tell you lol. Literally referred to the site derogatorily because we're on the same side. But someone did share a clone site w/o tracking, so I'll use that in the future.
