If Ukraine had unlimited usage of Starlink 300km within Russia, they could use their mid-strike drones to crush Russian logistics supply on the Russian highways that run into and around Ukraine. There are cheap mid-strike drones that have enough range. The main challenge is the data/video connection

In catch-22 book there is a scene where Germans hire Americans to bomb their own base and they pay so well the Americans do it - even after repairs and paychecks to families of fallen the profit so too good to pass the chance...

Hmm, I have to say "no" to this, 🇺🇦 cannot win their defence against 🇷🇺 solely because they have "slightly" extended access to Musk's Starlink. A whole conflict CANNOT depend upon one sole commercial organisation. Companies do not win wars - people do, namely Ukrainians.

The European Union is developing an alternative to Starlink for Ukraine. Negotiations are underway for full connection to the secure #Govsatcom satellite communications system. 🤞

Yes, but that's not going to happen overnight. For something like Starlink, you need a lot of satellites in orbit -- Starlink itself has over ten thousands of them, it represented hundreds of rocket launches to deploy all that orbital infrastructure.

Actually you don’t need that many satellites to get useful connectivity. This is also higher orbit, not for real time done operators, but comms and auto targeting with better EW resilience. 🇺🇦 is developing also own LEO network, first satellite in orbit united24media.com/latest-news/...

100 sats next year will prove very useful. UA is going to manufacture the terminals as well, which has been a real blocker to replace starting as the backbone of the military comms. Another change coming is in interceptor domes where instead of mounting starlink terminal directly, they have

That's a terrible deal. Allowing russian refineries to exist will only prolong the war; and 300 km is too short a range to really need Starlink.

It’s new, currently even before the game playing, starlink was restricted to within the national boundaries of Ukraine. This allows more accurate medium range strikes at military targets within Russia

'❗️Hero Zelensky is reportedly ready to pause strikes on Nazi Russian refineries for 100 days in exchange for Starlink access for United Ukrainian drones up to 300 km inside Nazi Russia, WSJ reports.' There, fixed the first part for you, my good friend 🙂👍 (1/2)

Elon is mentally on a chemical ride and doddering now in his straight moments of decision making. When strategic communications depend on the judgment of a single powerful individual, governments and customers inevitably seek alternatives. Competition is coming at the speed of Lightspeed.

Not that easy. The high volume repurposed S300/400 SAMs have a 400km range so wouldn't be able to saturate ukr air def Iskander:500km; similar pressure So they'd have to move to larger much more expensive missiles: lower inventory & production pipeline 100 days Is a good trade

I very much doubt that. I trust the Western militaries are ditching Starlink. But Trump and Musk have demonstrated that the US is a Russian ally. If Russia invades a NATO country the US would fight. The question is, on which side?
