US reaction and willingness to give up is what I'm worried about. If American soldiers die over this, what do the Americans do? I'm sure there would be plenty of revolutionary defeatists on Bluesky, but how does your median voter react to Johnny Smalltown getting his brains splattered?

Honestly not clear to me they can’t. The question isn’t if Denmark can kill more Americans than the other way around. It‘s if they can kill enough of us that we give up before we kill enough of them they give up. They have an actual just reason to fight and 99 percent of the human race on their side

Like, I've seen references to capturing US personnel on military bases here, and that's all great if they surrender, but what if they don't? If even some of them fight, and one in a hundred dies, that's a thousand dead troops. If it's one in ten, that's more than the GWOT.

I don't know how the average American will respond to that. Maybe they hate Trump enough that they blame him? Or maybe they feel it's their duty to rally around the flag even if they disagree. I don't know if anyone else knows for sure, either.

Like, I want to be clear here. If the US invades Greenland, we should still do our level best to make every American soldier on the continent into a captive and, failing that, a corpse. But also, I *really* hope that we never find out if rallying around the flag is likelier than giving up.
