I enjoy a lot of things in Spain as an immigrant. But tax system is not one of those things. And I mean the system itself, it’s just crazy overcomplicated, it’s impossible to navigate by yourself, and as a freelancer I get all the bad sides and paperwork without many benefits ((

Due to my first accountant being not competent at all, I now owe gvmnt around 800 euros, and if I can’t settle my problems that stem from her crude mistakes, I will owe even more, maybe 3-5k euros next year. Finding competent accountant is a quest by itself.

And this is so disheartening. I did my best to do things by the book, for everything to be legit. I am a freelancer, not some huge corporation. My business is simple. And it’s possible to get into situations like this ((((

I've been a freelance in Spain for many years and the tax system is a nightmare. I even went to court once (and luckily won). Anyway, if you ever need help with that, I'd be happy to help (my financial advisor is also really professional) 😊

Wow really? Do they speak english? Looking for the right advisor was a separate nightmare... I now pay a lot, but at least they (seem to) do the basic job well. And hey, great thing you won! What was the case? I can't imagine what freelancer can do to get into court, though nothing surprises me now.
