Just been such a revolution in my worldview to realise that people like Musk actually believe this, this isn't just the nonsense they feed the rubes so they can do coldly rational mercantile calculations in smokey rooms among themselves. No. It's rubes all the way down, they're that stupid.

I ALMOST have sympathy for the establishment types, since it seems like they really did grossly underestimate how many fellow Rs were ”rubes”…. But then I remind myself just how much damage that arrogant ignorance has wrought…

100%. They used to say all kinds of crazy stuff about Clinton and then work with him once the election was over. And then the party faithful said, "why are you doing that" and decided to go with True Believers.

I was thinking about it today. Rove believed that getting USAs to begin investigations into non-citizen voting was enough to be effective, even though he knew it wasn't true. These guys really believe thousands of non-citizens are voting (as a bloc!), despite it making no sense if you game it out.
