And what, pray tell, do Kennedys produce, other than more Kennedys to pollute the world?

RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

An Arab chemist won the Nobel Prize literally last year. RFK is not only a bigot, he's a stupid ignorant one. (Remember, this is the dude who claimed COVID was engineered to spare Jews and Asians.)

I don't know if it's still true, but when I visited Israel a decade ago, they were trying to stimulate interest in science among the young Arab population, including a cubesat team that was entirely Bedouin girls. It was quite successful, IIRC.

Brooke Rollins may yet merge as one of the most destructive members of this Administration. We may be facing big shortages in food thanks to her. I guess that's what we get for having the temerity to think us poors should be allowed to eat meat.

About this H5N1 mink farm in Utah. It is REALLY dangerous to let bird flu spread unchecked through mammals, esp minks. They have similar susceptibility & respiratory physiology as us. Flu can adapt to human hosts by adapting to mink respiratory tracts. rasmussenretorts.substack.com/p/the-party-...

i don't think anyone should run explicitly on banning online gambling but i do think that a democratic-led government should just quietly take steps to undermine the industry and create an inhospitable regulatory environment

Lula won in part by banning online gambling

None of us should forget this. Meta should be subjected to corporate death penalty and permanently broken up into small pieces.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

To me, this has become a litmus test of which Republicans still have some residual decency and which do not. Vote accordingly.

Over 2,000 alumni from Vivek’s all-boys catholic high school in Cincinnati have signed and circulated a petition demanding that he pull the ad and issue a public apology for “ignoring the moral responsibilities” of his Jesuit education. I think he’s pretty cooked.

I don’t think this made any difference, but it makes me very disappointed in West.

It's long past time we stopped attributing mystical powers to betting markets. All they represents is groupthink from the most internet-brained people on the face of the Earth.

Brazil elected Lula again tonight. Poll averages appear to have had Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro effectively tied, maybe Bolsonaro up 1 on Lula — so not sure why the markets had this race at 80-20 Bolsonaro. Markets might miss big in the U.S. midterms in 9 days too.

The powerful executives who cozied up to Trump didn't oops accidentally forget about pendulum swings. They either: 1) Like the fascism 2) Calculated it was here to stay, so going along was savvy 3) Saw no real downside, no consequences when the pendulum swung Crucial to show them 3 was a mistake

That this is in THE WASHINGTON POST is almost too much irony to bear.

I wouldn't quite say it's falling, but its string of victories has been interrupted. The only way to truly turn the tide is to vote like hell. And then hold the victors' feet to the fire.

It's Monday and fascism is falling around the world so have you voted early yet?

Well, shoot.

Failed to stop inflation? That’s letting Trump off the hook. Trump CAUSED price increases. His stupid war is why fuel prices are sky-high. Everything else costs more because of that.

Trump promise to bring down costs, but inflation is still outpacing paychecks. With the midterms a week away, Democrats are trying to tap into voters’ frustration in the midterms.

To put that in perspective, he's made more money off the war in Iran than an entire classroom of average Americans will make in their lifetimes. Most corrupt Administration ever.

Trump currently holds up to $81 million in oil and gas stocks. His stocks have increased in value by 43% since the end of 2025.

A tough thing in explaining to people why having children is enjoyable is that all the bad stuff is very easy to explain (lost sleep, lost time, more sickness, less sex, etc. etc.) whereas most of the really good stuff whispers.

I often feel like the world is poised on a knife-blade with functional democracy on one side and global Right Wing tyranny on the other. Hopefully, we can lean more toward the democracy side.

It's not really a Right-Left thing, BTW. The forces of tyranny are far more concentrated on the Right at the moment. It was the reverse when I was a kid -- the most murderous tyrannical governments were communist then. Right-Left is a policy preference. Freedom-tyranny is foundational.

Brazil didn't even have to reject the guy who tried to steal an election. They'd already banned him from running. They rejected his son because you can't let the bastards even have a toehold back in power. Maybe they should be monitoring our democracy.

TBF she had a lot to say about her daughter and claims to have been daunted by narrowing it to three things. I can kinda get that. With Hal Beta, every time we did an interview for assistance, it was a bevy of questions like "what are his strengths" and we sometimes struggled with concise answers.

please please vote before election day, and tell your circles to. Republican mayors and governors are watching this unfold and getting ideas.

When I was in Austin, there was a dial that you used to select names and it would sometimes roll backward to hover over "straight Republican ticket", which was the last option on the ballot. I was probably the only person at UT who saw this as an accident, not a conspiracy.

We saw reports of "machines switching votes" in TN & TX. These are typically real issues — a calibration problem w/ older touchscreen machines — but not intentional efforts to rig the vote. Always good for voters to check that their vote is being recorded correctly. www.cip.uw.edu/2026/10/22/e...
