They forced a lot of federal employees into early retirement and said that it wouldn't be around in the future. Calling this unexpected is a real stretch.

In another year you will think these prices are cheap.

How can you say "Trump has said he won't touch Social Security..." without mentioning that not touching SS means across the board >20% benefit cuts in 10 years. The benefit cuts Trump wants are a much bigger concern than the normal benefit for delaying payments.

I would do the same thing. I calculated out how much Social Security I would collect based on living until 80 years old. It was almost the same total amount at every age so there was no reason to wait. Plus, filing early allow me to take less out of my 401K. It's still doing very well!

I am one of those who just started my Social Security rather than wait a year to age 70. Too many unknowns in today’s political climate.
