There was no shortfall until congress borrowed the money and started kicking the debt down the road. It’s a crisis only in the sense that no one is representing the people when decisions are made.

Actually, that's what banks do, too. They take the depositors money and invest it or loan it out to other people. That's how they can afford to pay interest.

So instead of schools, the mass shooters will aim at nursing homes and senior community centers. Let's fix it or stop dividing people further than we already have.

If we had taxxed the rich like you're supposed to without the cap and had the federal government kept their sticky greedy fingers out of it, but no, they did both thungs. None of this matters now, just return the money you took to me and the companies i worked for back our 6.2%.

The syntax of this post is so weird. Do or do not most Americans be able to weigh in on solutions? Also: IIRC most Americans still think the GOP is "better on the economy" despite that being objectively incorrect since at least Eisenhower.

Pretty easy. Lift the cap. Pay everyone the benefit even billionaires. It will never run out of money. And, pay back all the money it has borrowed from it. Fixed.

Here's what Democrats should do: Viciously attack any Republican who proposes any reform, thus making any debate or compromise impossible. At the same time, Democrats should not actually solve the problem, even when they control Congress and the presidency. It's obvious when you think about it. 🤔

The solution is so easy, just lift the cap on the income subject to the tax, & let the upper class pay a little more. But we couldn't have that, no, not no way.
