I'm happy to watch Caitlin, then help out the league by following the playoffs. It's unclear to me why people are obsessed with trying to prove she doesn't influence viewership. I'm happy to support the league in general. The era is gone where the gravitational pull of Caitlin is zero.

Also, it's not that nobody cares without her. It's that she single handedly raised the profile of the game by doing something phenomenal while playing at Iowa. Then when she got to the W, that momentum was borrowed but her star was dimmed for some very obvious and disappointing reasons.

So many new eyes were on the W and women's bball at all levels because of her. And then they refused to let her be the central focus. Unfortunately, racists on both sides of this thing have made it about other stuff. But frankly race was always an inherent part of the issue. Embarrassing that

She doesn't get her flowers. And btw I wish she would be more outspoken on social justice in favor of her teammates who are POC and are still discriminated against in this country. But as long as she doesn't make Sophie's choice I'm okay with her remaining neutral. She deals w more BS than anyone

Even after NBC’s atrocious scheduling and then putting the games on subscription channels that no one has, the numbers are still great. As the saying goes “Cannot keep a good woman down!”

A preliminary round Little League game between Hamilton OH & Phenix City, AL had 2.1 million viewers on 8/26, the Kentucky Oaks horse race had 2.4M viewers the day before the Kentucky Derby + Jimmy Kimmel averaged 2.1M viewers in Aug while he was on vacation. Maybe let's not get too excited

Sports is entertainment + the WNBA is one option among many. It's great that the biz is seeing customer growth. In context, the W is still very small when your champ series audience is equal to a prelim Little League game btw 12 yr olds on a Wed evening in August + a non-Triple Crown horse race

Does this make you feel better? Denegrating the achievements of the W give you a woody? In 1970’s the NBA finals weren’t even on broadcast tv…they were tape delayed until Bird and Magic came along in 1980…the W is on the rise and the product is only going to grow stronger! I feel sad for you🙄

Plus, game 3 of of Vegas vs fever had 2.25 million viewers, not even a finals game.. that would be more than 2.1 million, I think km. So a 1st rnd game w cc had more people watching than a finals game wo cc?

Congrats to them but imagine the viewership of a caitlan clark vs angel reese match up. Or olivia miles vs angel reese match up. Çc haters gonna find any reason to hate her but she has been good for the league viewership and all know it except the haters.
