started work on my bluesky client after idly thinking about it for like a month straight. working name "goungle"

it's going to suck for a pretty long while until i figure out all the basics but afterwards i want to fill it with Touys. i want to make a client that you can't take seriously because you shouldn't be taking social media seriously

i've decided to not use a framework for this at all btw because i've decided i hate frameworks. the client is so far one very beautiful 300-line js file

i'm handling qrts similar to how tumblr does it because it's kind of just the better way of presenting information without encouraging quotedunking. so a qrt is just a boosted reply now oh yeah i forgot to mention but there's a dark theme now

light skeumorphism on these buttons. they're like little shaped pop-out toggleable buttons. they glow when pressed. not 100% sure on the positioning and colors but i think they look neat

not certain on this cw behavior for images but it's ok for now. i can call it temporary too between the options of "blur until dismissed", "hide and leave a massive amount of empty space until dismissed" and "collapse and increase post size when opened" i think i prefer the first, so

a few tweaks later, i'm happier with this i think. also did some tweaks to the header & like/repost button. tomorrow is probably individual posts day which means figuring out handwriting an SPA day

nevermind it's tomorrow (was tomorrow, it's 00:51) and i spent the whole day writing a following feed shim because the one i'm currently using broke. shooould be done by tomorrow. feedgens are hard

OK it's not quite identical to following feed - following checks parents of parents of posts for reply following status, this feed only checks parents of posts (eg. a <- b <- a <- a gets shown if you don't follow b) - your own self-replies don't show up i want to fix both of those but not now

i've been using this regularly instead of the main app and it's good because i get to iron out a lot of the more nitpicky stuff and get a good amount of testing done. and also it's awesome that i can already just use it as a replacement client

slooowly figuring out navigation. not a lot of exciting looking stuff there yet so that's why posts on here abt it have been stagnant. HOWEVER i do once in a while implement some exciting features as a break. today there are now quick account switchers on like/repost buttons
