tried proper full vibecoding today because i had an assignment i need to turn in by tomorrow that i truly could not care for less and holy shit, *this* is what all the devs have been preaching?????

i think that was the single most soul draining programming experience i've ever had. by the end of it i did not have the accomplishment of finishing a project, just depression towards the state of software development

ultimately a lot of it comes down to personal issues with it (like the lack of agency and OCD over using it in the first place) and i understand that those shouldn't really count but even overlooking that, wow that was a humiliating, awkward and utterly effortless exercise in producing slop

does it get better, on a fundamental level? is there a difference some layers deep in when you finally get the right skills, find the right harness, get the right model, configure the right system prompt, where it clicks and gets good? or is it sunk cost fallacy trying to find where it clicks?

i've hit my personal limit. i think i've been undergoing sunk cost fallacy this entire time thinking there's any merit to LLM-assisted development, it's time to give up for good

lowkey true because everytime i tried it out there was always some bullshit going on with it for me
