Three suggestions, each with a caveat. 1. Nuclear War (Annie Jacobsen). But is this just A House of Dynamite? 2. Light Perpetual (Francis Spufford). But would the domesticity make it dull? 3. The Affirmation (Christopher Priest). Would the Dream Archipelago narrative work though?

That would be great too. I mean basically anything by Spufford would be fun, though it would also make me sad because part of what’s so great about his books is how well he plays with language.

Earthsea always struck me as a complete no brainer for a prestige TV miniseries. The only reason not to seems to be that le Guin adaptations are always cursed and terrible. But couldn't they, you know, just do it well? I think it would be very easy to do well.

I have not read either of these! Another good suggestion I saw was Kim Stanley Robinson - eg Mars Trilogy. His storytelling and world building is so good, but his writing is mediocre, so that seems a no brainer for bringing to the screen.

You would love Place of Greater Safety. Dunno if Earthsea is your cup of tea really but it is outstanding. Way better than the imitators that followed in its wake. The writing and the worldbuilding are both excellent, but minimalist, which gives you a lot of space to explore.
