One of these dafties keeps trying to nest on my porch light. Completely unsuitable location and they're terrible at building nests, but they've been trying and eventually giving up for about four years now!

Probably a good thing that the cat is not present at the same time as the collared dove......or it would be an ex collared dove. I'd also like to be sure that you used a suitable reference book to confirm the bird identification.....I'm sure you have a good number there ?
