X is my favorite too. When I finally played it two years ago, I ended up 100% both it and X2 back-to-back 😅 I felt a real sense of loss when it was over. What FFs have you played?

I still need to play X-2, I tried it but was confused and overwhelmed by the dress sphere system lol I’ve only finished 7, 10, and the 7 remakes. I’ve played some of a few others, but other than X-2, I want to go through 6 and 9 next!

XII in my theory is what inspired Xenoblade. It's the only game that I can find that's similar. Just more turned/menu base but it has the same vibes. Absolutely fun and my dark horse of the series that I wish more people talked about. The gambit system is revolutionary!

I think when it came out, a lot of people were mixed on the gambit system, but I see more and more folks come around and go "wait this is good, actually!" There's tons of different ways you can play XII which makes the replayability unbeatable. It's also nowhere near as long as XBC1!

If you don't fall in love with Balthier I would pay you what you paid for the game. Money back guaranteed. Sorry my lunch break was over and I had to go back to stocking shelves for the beautiful residents of Florida 🙄

Don't be afraid of the junction system or the GFS! (The aeons of VIII). Basically imagine if Yuna ducktaped an Aeon to her, and depending on which one, it allows her to get stat increases for specific attributes. You use your magic inventory to increase said stats.

So... if Ifrit is taped to Yuna, that would be a good one to raise your strength and vit attributes. You would use Fire magic for strength and revive/cure magic for vit. That's how you "level up" in VIII! That's basically all there is to it. It sounds scary but it's super simple and fun.

VIII was unique in that enemies level up with Squall. So most of the scary stuff you see is from people trying to keep Squall at level 1 while using junction to make him more like level 50. You don't need to do this in a normal playthrough!

Anyways, VIII is such a trip. Every character is so full of life and unique. There's so many absolutely weird moments that will make your jaw drop, burst out laughing, and then all of the sudden, will have you tearing up. I can't recommend this Edgar Allan Poe wannabe clown enough.
