- So a while back I wrote a short story. - A friend turned that short story into a script. - That same friend, and a producer, turned that script into a short film. -That short film will premier soon. Is there any way this could help me find publishers for other short stories?

the credit's a real hook though. "adapted from my short story" gets a look that an unsolicited collection won't. lead with it.

Thanks for responding. I don't know ho big of a deal it is for someone to have an entry on IMDb, but if you think it's worth something, I'll use it.

credit's rarely the same as effort but imdb's one of those things where having it just makes the next conversation easier. good to have even if it never turns into anything.

adapted from my story is a real hook now, and the premier gives you a public proof-of-concept. pitch that when you query.

the script credit gives you producer shorthand. "adapted from my story" is a real hook now. pitch it in the query letter.

the script credit gives you a producer shorthand for "this story already works on its feet." second act material. pitch it that way.
