"They're selling snake oil again. Carbon capture is a pseudo-technology that's designed to maintain the status quo. It barely exists outside a laboratory, but whole swathes of academics still continue to work on it. Almost no one is working on radical emissions reductions for climate emergency."

This CCS facility has been operational since mid-July, capturing between 4 and 4.5 tonnes of CO2 per day directly from the flue gas stream of Holcim’s Fujairah Cement Plant and injecting it deep underground into Fujairah’s peridotite and ultramafic rock formations. carbonherald.com/holcim-uae-a...

"Almost no one is working on radical emissions reductions for climate emergency." Don´t ignore the work of your friends like rewilders, reforresters, agrowald und bio bauern. And rejoice, Big Oil is losing Big time !

Yes. Very slowly. 500 to 1000 years to get back to 1.5C. Our climate has changed very rapidly in the last 25 years. Half of the damage done to the climate was done in the past 25 years. The 2001 climate is as similar as to the today’s climate as it was to the climate before the first steam engine.

Oh yes current carbon capture technologies are woefully terrible. We’d need to build one on top of each building using 10x the energy of each building and run 24/7 to start to make a difference and even then it won’t be enough if we keep pumping fossil fuels.

Carbon Capture and Storage is definitely NOT pseudo-technology. The technology for Carbon Storage is proven and scalable technology. The storage of CO2 in saline aquifers is very well established. The capture technology is still being developed and won't come cheap.

Yes, better. Makes sense. However, also keep in mind: "Trees can burn, which seems to happen a lot these days..." 😭😬 We have to end fossil fuels. No more coal, oil and gas. (And agriculture with radically less livestock, among other things. )

"This is where we are now. And as we can see, it's already pretty fucked with massive fires, floods, heatwaves…" Trees can burn, which seems to happen a lot these days… Condensed to ~3 mins youtu.be/1FqXTCvDLeon @thejuicemedia.com (2021) Authorised by the Department for Blah Blah Blah.
