Precedent. In Clinton v. Jones (1997), the Supreme Court unanimously ruled that a sitting president has no immunity from civil lawsuits over unofficial conduct, which let Paula Jones’s sexual harassment suit proceed. Clinton was deposed in that case on January 17, 1998.
