Incredible that they've recreated stagflation through a Middle East energy crisis from the seminal 1970s historical lesson, Don't Create Stagflation Through a Middle East Energy Crisis, It Will Destroy Your Presidency and Political Movement.

Front-end very bid on comments from the shadow chair. *WALLER: IF INFLATION COMES IN HOT, WOULD CONSIDER A RATE HIKE *FED’S WALLER: RATE DECISION IN SEPT HINGES ON AUGUST INFLATION *WALLER: IF DISINFLATION CONTINUES, INCLINED TO SUPPORT HOLDING

Whatever you say about the US economy right now "stagflation" (rising unemployment + accelerating inflation) is absolutely the wrong term to use, straightforwardly incorrect.

People have been telling me this for two years now and I'm sorry y'all are wrong lol

It's a matter of perspective. I drive a hybrid, don't eat much red meat, and - in retirement - get my "extra" income from the stock market. (My IRA.) And I have a dirt-cheap mortgage. But I see the price of gas, the cost of "cheap cuts" of beef, and I understand why folks think the economy sucks.

The economy is going to tank for real sooner or later - that's the business cycle. That's baked in. And all it take for the stock market to tank is for a bit of reality to puncture the "magical money" thought balloon that drives the wealthy investors. It's just a question of when.

And if that’s correct and the economy isn’t actually to blame — if people are just pointing at the economy in surveys as a stand-in for their bad feelings about Trump 2.0 — then the GOP may have made a *much* larger political mistake than they realize.

I didn’t say it shouldn’t count But over reliance on it would be a sign of fragility And the benefits of it accrue to very few The op is missing the fact on the inequality of this economy which explains why for so many it doesn’t feel good

Not everything is "charts" vs "vibes". This is straightforwardly "is there stagflation" and the answer (so far) is no. Which is not what I expected a year ago!
