So uh when you posted this I thought was a joke, but then I did a quick comparison between my Following feed on Bluesky and Blacksky and uh, wow. It's substantially different. A lot of accounts I follow don't show up there. I can find them if I search, I can see their posts when other people

repost their stuff but ... this has a lot of work to go to even reach Fediverse levels of user experience. I don't know why this is happening, so I won't speculate yet.

Or, conversely, it's fine, and "Fediverse levels of UX" are actually acceptable to users of Bluesky and adjacent platforms, as it turns out

Yeah a lot of that will get removed once we finish moving to OAuth on the bsky app - proxying everything through the PDS, read after write in the PDS, etc. They were early decisions that are no longer needed, but require us to do a suite of updates on our app

Not as a protocol ability, just within the bsky app Not sure about the long term plan RE proxying

Yeah, I've seen developers comment that even removing the AppView defaulting behavior (which IMO is a *must* for a robust open network) would mess up their apps, I can only imagine the uproar removing proxying would cause. Technical debt's a bitch

(the PDS AppView defaulting behavior will probably hit an inflection point if tranquil becomes more popular, since it doesn't do it)

Yeah I only very recently added that proxy header to Skythread, for example (and the fun part is that because the reference PDS works without this, it's actually really hard to test it… I had to use an account on someone's Tranquil, which doesn't have the default)

Clarity, to help me, is the direction y’all’re headed Option 1 or Option 2, at least in terms of the bsky app? I feel like I heard two different arguments but it was a little muddy for me 🫠
