One of the more incoherent things I see from people online is to “ask an expert” instead of using ChatGPT. In my years of experience doing this, most experts tell you to go look up the answer to the question instead, often rudely. So is it that surprising people turn to a chatbot?

I think in a lot of these situations, people are looking for advice (broad recommendations specific to them), not answers (to specific questions that are general to a population). I find most experts are great at answers, but terrible at giving advice.
