Dammit, I knew Lower Thames Crossing would get the go ahead. This wastes billions of pounds to trash ancient woodland just to induce more driving instead of ever EVER doing anything to improve train quality/capacity/price. #StopRIS2

This is far from the public’s priority for transport investment and every £ spent here is not being used to deliver projects that would really make a difference to people’s daily journeys and undermining goals to get more stuff moving by rail. Disappointing.

“LTC is a deeply flawed and short-sighted scheme that will destroy up to 8 hectares of irreplaceable ancient woodland, emit 6.5 million tonnes of greenhouse gases, making it the highest carbon-emitting road scheme in the UK and worsen air pollution.” www.kentwildlifetrust.org.uk/campaigns/lo...

Lower Thames Crossing will destroy 0.32 hectares of ancient woodland per km, which is 3x the 0.09 hectares of ancient woodland directly impacted per km for HS2. Then there’s the emissions for construction and usage. Both wildly different. Can we please get mad about the right projects.

Green Party already voted on a motion to investigate corruption and misappropriation on HS2. Labour should investigate COVID corruption too. Tories were consistently stuffing taxpayer money in their own pockets. They do the same with roads. It’s got nothing to do with an electric train.
